It was also a success in the U.S. where it was a top 30 hit and has sold in excess of 2 million copies there[2].
A special video album was also released at the same time, directed by Sophie Muller who had worked with Lennox during her years with Eurythmics. The video album featured promotional videos for nine of the album's eleven tracks (the video for the single "Little Bird" had not yet been made at this time, and no video was made for the album track "Stay By Me").

Several songs from the album were released as singles with "Why", "Walking on Broken Glass" and "Little Bird" being the most successful.

04.04.1971 JACKSON 5 - NEVER CAN SAY GOODBYE - US 2 - 11
The Jackson 5 (also spelled The Jackson Five or The Jackson 5ive, and later known as The Jacksons) was an American popular music quintet (and briefly a sextet and quartet) from Gary, Indiana. The group, fully active from 1966 to 1990, consisted of brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael, who played from a repertoire of R&B, soul, funk, and later disco. Considered "one of the biggest phenomenons in pop music"[1] during the early 1970s, the Jackson 5 are also notable for launching the careers of their lead singers Jermaine and Michael.

Signed to the Motown label from 1968 to 1975, and to Epic/CBS Records (as "The Jacksons") from 1975 until their disbanding in 1990, the Jackson 5 were one of the most popular groups of the era and became the first recording act to have their first four major label singles ("I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save", and "I'll Be There") reach the top of the American charts. Several future singles, among them "Mama's Pearl", "Never Can Say Goodbye" and "Dancing Machine", were Top 5 pop hits and number-one hits on the R&B singles chart. Most of the early hits were written and produced by a specialized songwriting team known as "The Corporation"; later Jackson 5 hits were crafted chiefly by Hal Davis.

Significantly, they were the first black teen idols to appeal equally to white audiences. Upon their departure from Motown for CBS in 1975, the Jacksons were forced to change their name and replace Jermaine (who remained at Motown) with younger brother Randy. The group took control of their songwriting, production, and image, and their success continued into the 1980s with hits such as "Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground)" and "State of Shock", and the highly successful Victory Tour. The Jacksons officially disbanded in 1990, after the commercial underperformance of their 1989 album 2300 Jackson Street, recorded mostly without Michael and Marlon.

6/18 US Top10; Never Can Say Goodbye (US2, R&B#1); Album (4): Maybe Tomorrow, travanj 1971.

Never Can Say Goodbye, prvi su 1971. otpjevali The Jackson 5 za kuću Motown, točnije otpjevao ju je majmlađi član 12-godišnji Michael Jackson. Pjesmu su potom obrađivali Isaac Hayes, The Sandpipers, The Communards, Yazz i Vanessa Williams. Druga najuspješnija verzija te pjesme snimljena je 1974. u disco produkciji otpjevala ju je Gloria Gaynor i postala je jednom od najvećih hitova disco ere.

Maybe Tomorrow was the fourth regular studio album released by The Jackson 5 in 1971. Released after the success of the hit ballad "I'll Be There", most of the tracks on the album are ballads, with few dance numbers. Maybe Tomorrow includes the hit singles "Never Can Say Goodbye" and "Maybe Tomorrow". While not as financially successful as the Jackson 5's first three outings, Maybe Tomorrow contains some of the most often-sampled and covered material in the group's catalogue.

22.05.1971 PETER NOONE - OH YOU PRETTY THING - UK 12
Peter Noone (r Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone, 05.11.1947, at Park Hospital, Davyhulme, near Manchester) is an English singer, songwriter, guitarist, pianist and actor, best known as "Herman" of the successful 1960s rock group Herman's Hermits. He is of mostly Irish and Scottish ancestry, with some Welsh roots

Early in his career, he used the stage name Peter Novak. At the age of 15, he became the lead singer, spokesperson, and frontman of Herman's Hermits. As "Herman", the photogenic Noone graced the cover of nearly every international publication, including Time Magazine.

"Oh! You Pretty Things" is a song written by David Bowie in 1971 for the album Hunky Dory. It is a pop tune opening with only Rick Wakeman's piano and Bowie's vocal, before entering the catchy refrain. The simple piano style is often compared to Paul McCartney's "Martha My Dear".[1][2] Thematically, the song has been seen as reflecting the influence of occultist Aleister Crowley and philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche,[1][3] and heralding "the impending obsolescence of the human race in favour of an alliance between arriving aliens and the youth of the present society".

Cover versions:

Harvey Danger – Live version released on the 2006 EP Little Round Mirrors.
Amorette – On the tribute album .2 Contamination: A Tribute to David Bowie (2006)
Seu Jorge – Portuguese version for the 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.
Peter Noone – Single on which Bowie played piano. It become a #12 hit in mid-1971. Noone replaced Bowie's line "The Earth is a bitch" with "The Earth is a beast", in a performance that NME editors Roy Carr and Charles Shaar Murray called "one of rock and roll's most outstanding examples of a singer failing to achieve any degree of empathy whatsoever with the mood and content of a lyric".

"Running Scared" is a 1961 American pop song written by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson and sung by Orbison. An operatic rock ballad, the song was released as a 45rpm single by Monument Records in March 1961 and went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The song also appears on Orbison's 1962 album titled Roy Orbison's Greatest Hits and his 1989 posthumous album A Black & White Night Live from the 1988 HBO television special.

02.06.1956 CHORDETTES - BORN TO BE WITH YOU - US 5 - 17
The Chordettes were a female popular singing quartet, usually singing a cappella, and specializing in traditional pop music.
The group organized in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, in 1946. The original members of the group were Janet Ertel (1913-November 4, 1988), Carol Bushman (her sister-in-law), Dorothy Schwartz, and Jinny Osiborn (or Lockard) (April 25, 1928-May 19, 2003). In 1952, Lynn Evans replaced Schwartz, and in 1953, Margie Needham replaced Osborn (who was having a baby), though Osborn later returned to the group. Nancy Overton also was a member of the group at a later time. Originally they sang folk music in the style of The Weavers, but eventually changed to a harmonizing style of the type known as barbershop harmony. Part of this change seems to be influenced by Osborn's father.
Jinny Osborn was born in Seattle, Washington. She was born Virginia Cole, the daughter of O. H. "King" Cole, who was president of the Barbershop Harmony Society (then known as SPEBSQSA), and Katherine Flack.
After performing locally in Sheboygan, they went on Arthur Godfrey's radio program Talent Scouts in 1949. They held feature status on Godfrey's daily program, and then recorded for Columbia Records.
In 1953, Godfrey's music director and orchestra leader, Archie Bleyer, founded Cadence Records. He signed a number of Godfrey regulars and former regulars, including the Chordettes, who had a number of hit records for Cadence.
Their biggest hit was Mr. Sandman in 1954. Archie Bleyer himself is on that record along with the group, Bleyer stripping the sound down the better not to clutter the girls' voices. They also hit #2 with 1958's Lollipop," and also charted with a vocal version of the themes from television's Zorro (1959) and the film Never on Sunday (1961). Other hits for the girls included "Eddie My Love," "Born to Be With You," "Lay Down Your Arms" in 1956, and "Just Between You and Me" in 1957.
Janet Ertel married Bleyer in 1954. Her daughter Jackie married another Cadence recording star, Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers. She died of cancer in 1988.
The Chordettes appeared on American Bandstand August 5, 1957, the first episode on the ABC Television Network.
In 1961, Jinny Osborn left the group, and they were unable to find a replacement with whom they were happy, leading to a breakup.
The group was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2001.
Jinny Osborn (by that time Jinny Janis) died in 2003.

"You Can't Be True, Dear" is a popular song.
It was originally written as a German language song, "Du Kannst Nicht Treu Sein," by composer Hans Otten and lyricist Gerhard Ebeler. English language lyrics and title were written by Hal Cotten.
In 1948, Ken Griffin recorded the song, first released as an instrumental and later with vocalist Jerry Wayne dubbing the lyrics, both of which became popular in releases by an independent company, Rondo Records. A number of other versions were also recorded that year.
The recording by Ken Griffin and Jerry Wayne was released by Rondo Records as catalog number 228. It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on April 2, 1948 staying at #1 for seven weeks. The instrumental recording by Ken Griffin was released by Rondo Records as catalog number 128. It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on July 2, 1948 peaking at #2. Both the vocal and solo organ versions charted for 23 weeks and sold an estimated 3,500,000 copies. [1] Note that this version was recorded and released first, but charted after the vocal version.
The recording by Dick Haymes was released by Decca Records as catalog number 24439. It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on May 28, 1948 and lasted 13 weeks on the chart, peaking at #9. [1] Both sides of this recording were cover versions of bigger hits, but both charted; the flip side was Nature Boy, a major hit for Nat King Cole.
The recording by The Sportsmen was released by Capitol Records as catalog number 15077. It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on May 28, 1948 and lasted 13 weeks on the chart, peaking at #11. [1] The flip side, "Toolie Oolie Doolie," also charted.
The recording by The Marlin Sisters was released by Columbia Records as catalog number 38211. It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on June 4, 1948 and lasted 4 weeks on the chart, peaking at #19. [1] The flip side, "Toolie Oolie Doolie," also charted (oddly enough, in both The Sportsmen's and the Marlin Sisters' version, the same song was the flip side and in both cases, both sides made the charts).
The recording by Dick James was released by RCA Victor Records as catalog number 20-2944. It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on June 25, 1948 and lasted 2 weeks on the chart, peaking at #19. This was his only charting hit. [1]
Two artists in the United Kingdom also recorded the song at about the same time. Vera Lynn recorded the song on March 10, 1948, which was released by the UK Decca label under catalog number F-8883, and Dolores Gray made a recording on August 13, 1948, released by the UK Columbia label under catalog number DB 2451.
Vera Lynn's recording also charted in the United States. This recording was released by London Records as catalog number 202. It first reached the Billboard magazine Best Seller chart on May 21, 1948 and lasted 7 weeks on the chart, peaking at #14. [1]
A revival of the song by Patti Page (Columbia Records catalog number 4-44345) became popular in 1965, spending 8 weeks on the Billboard Easy listening music chart, peaking at #11.
