27/36 UK Top40 (bez dueta); Lately (UK3; US64); Album: Hotter than July, 29.09.1980.

A cover version of this song was recorded by S Club 7 for their "7" album and by Jodeci which was a 1993 #1 Hit R&B single

The release spent four weeks at the top of the Hot R&B Songs chart, and was Jodeci's biggest pop hit, peaking at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Hotter than July - track list: Did I Hear You Say You Love Me / All I Do / Rocket Love / I Ain't Gonna Stand For It / As If You Read My Mind / Master Blaster (Jammin') / Do Like You / Cash In Your Face / Lately / Happy Birthday

Hotter than July is an album by Stevie Wonder, originally released on Motown's Tamla label on September 29, 1980. Despite the wide critical acclaim for Wonder's previous works such as Songs in the Key of Life and Innervisions, Hotter than July was his first album eligible for platinum status, as Motown sales records before 1977 were not audited by the Recording Industry Association of America.

Inspired by the growing popularity of Bob Marley's music and its clear messages against war, "Master Blaster (Jammin)" was Wonder's way of honoring Marley. The ballad "Lately" and the upbeat "Happy Birthday" were other notable successes from the album. Wonder wrote "Happy Birthday" in order to honor Martin Luther King and used the song to campaign for King's birthday, January 15, to become a national holiday in the USA. The sleeve design contains images of Martin Luther King and some of his famous protests.

Track two, "All I Do", had originally been written by a teenaged Wonder and collaborators Clarence Paul and Morris Broadnax in 1966. Tammi Terrell recorded the original version of the song that year; her version remained in the Motown vaults until the release of the compilation A Cellarful of Motown! in the United Kingdom in 2002.

11.04.1981 BARRY MANILOW - BERMUDA TRIANGLE - UK 15

In 1978, five of his albums were on the best-selling charts simultaneously, a feat equalled only by Frank Sinatra and Johnny Mathis. He has recorded a string of Billboard hit singles and multi-platinum albums that have resulted in his being named Radio & Records number one Adult Contemporary artist and winning the American Music Award for Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist for three consecutive years. Several well-known entertainers have given Manilow their "stamp of approval," including Sinatra, who was quoted in the 1970s regarding Manilow, "He's next." In 1988, Bob Dylan stopped Manilow at a party, hugged him and said, "Don't stop what you're doing, man. We're all inspired by you." Arsenio Hall cited Manilow as a favorite guest on The Arsenio Hall Show and admonished his audience to respect him for his work.

As well as producing and arranging albums for other artists, such as Bette Midler, Dionne Warwick and Rosemary Clooney, Manilow has also written songs for musicals and movies.

Since February 2005, he has been the headliner at the Las Vegas Hilton.

8/8 UK Top40; We Have All the Time in the World; Šesti film iz ciklusa o Jamesu Bondu - On Her Majesty's Secret Service, 1969. (U službi njezinog veličanstva)

"We Have All the Time in the World" is a James Bond theme and popular song sung by Louis Armstrong. Its music was composed by John Barry and the lyrics by Hal David; it is a secondary musical theme in 1969 James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service; the title theme being the instrumental "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", also composed by Barry. The song title, "We Have All the Time in the World", is taken from James Bond's final words in both the novel and the film, spoken after his wife's death. The song was not registered in the music rating charts in the UK when first released, only becoming well known 25 years later, as part of a Guinness beer commercial after My Bloody Valentine chose to cover it for charity. It was then re-released and reached number 3 in the UK Singles Chart. In 2005, a BBC survey showed it is the third-most-popular love song played at weddings [1].

Several types of artists that have covered "We Have All the Time in the World", including My Bloody Valentine, Iggy Pop, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Vic Damone, Amalia Grè and Tindersticks. Iggy Pop's version of it plays during the end credits of the film "The Jacket".

On Her Majesty's Secret Service, released in 1969, is the sixth spy film in the James Bond series, and the only one to star George Lazenby as the fictional British secret agent James Bond, 007. In the film, Bond faces Blofeld, who is planning on unleashing a plague through a group of brainwashed "angels of death" unless his demands are met. Along the way, Bond meets, falls in love with, and eventually marries Contessa Teresa di Vicenzo.

This is the only Bond film to be directed by Peter R. Hunt, who before was a film editor or second unit director on every previous film. While On Her Majesty's Secret Service didn't earn quite as much money as the predecessor You Only Live Twice, it was still a box office success, and was met with positive critical reviews.

04.05.1972 MIKE BRANT - QUI SAURA ? - FR 1 - 4

Mike Brant (Born Moshe Michael Brand Sela, r 01.02.1947 – ubio se 25.04.1975) was an Israeli pop star who achieved international fame after moving to France. His most successful hit was "Laisse-moi t'aimer" ("Let me love you"). Brant committed suicide at the height of his career by jumping from the window of a Paris apartment, leaving his fans shocked and devastated. His music is still aired in Israel today.

Mike Brant was born on February 1, 1947 in a Jewish refugee camp on Cyprus. His parents were Polish Jews, and his mother was a survivor of Auschwitz. He did not begin to speak until the age of five. On November 1947, the family immigrated to the British Mandate of Palestine and settled in Haifa, where they lived in a modest two-room apartment.

When he was 17, Brant joined his brother's band, "The Chocolates," as the lead singer. The band started out performing at parties and cafés in Haifa and Tel Aviv, and moved on to nightclubs in upscale hotels. Brant sang in English and in French, although he spoke only Hebrew. In 1965, he changed his name to "Mike" because it sounded more "international."

At one of these performances, he was discovered by the Israeli impresario Jonathan Karmon, who signed him on for a tour around the US and South Africa that lasted almost a year. By 1968, Brant's career had taken off. He appeared nightly before large crowds.

In May 1969, Brant performed at the nightclub of the Hilton Hotel in Teheran, "Baccara." A young French singer, Sylvie Vartan, who was also on the bill, was impressed by his talent and charisma, and urged him to come to Paris.

Brant arrived on July 9, 1969 in Paris with a hundred dollar bill in his pocket, determined to make an international name for himself. It took him ten days to find Vartan, but they eventually met, and she introduced him to the French producer Jean Renard, who had turned Johnny Halliday into a star. Under Renard's guidance, he changed the spelling of his family name from Brand to Brant, and recorded his biggest all-time hit, "Laisse-moi t'aimer" ("Let Me Love You"). The song was a huge success at the Midem music festival in January 1970, and was played on the radio all over France. "Laisse-moi t'aimer" sold 50,000 copies within the first two weeks.

A million and half copies of "Laisse-moi t'aimer" were snatched up over the next few months. Brant represented France in a radio contest broadcast all over Europe and also aired in Israel. His song in the contest, sponsored by Radio Luxembourg, was "Mais dans la lumiere" ("But Inside the Light"). Brant took first place. He continued to release new hits: "Qui saura" ("Who Knows"), "Un grand bonheur" ("Great Happiness") and "Parce que je t'aime plus que moi" ("Because I Love You More Than Myself). His wildly successful first album, "Disque d'Or" ("Gold Record") sold millions of copies. Brant took a song that was written and composed in English by his good friend Mike Tchaban/Tashban "Why do i love you? Why do i need you?" French radio would not air this song because it was in English. Brant in a sad way returned back home to give concerts and the rest of Europe. Brant's concerts attracted enormous crowds. Wherever he went, he was surrounded by adoring fans, especially girls and women, who screamed and fainted at his performances. His tours took him all over Europe.

In February 1971, Brant was injured in a road accident. That year, at the peak of his success, he returned home to give several concerts in Israel. During the Yom Kippur War in 1973, he performed in Israel before front-line soldiers.

After switching managers, Brant found himself performing at an insane pace. By 1973, he was giving 250 concerts a year, some before audiences of 6,000-10,000 people. This went on for two years. He spent those years madly dodging female admirers. Despite all this adulation, Brant suffered from depression and loneliness. On November 22, 1974, he attempted suicide, jumping out the window of his manager's hotel room in Geneva. He suffered broken bones, but survived. He recovered and began to appear again, but cut down the number of performances and concentrated on putting out another album, Dis-lui ("Tell Her").

On April 25, 1975, on the day his new album was scheduled for release on live television, Brant leapt to his death from the balcony of an apartment in Paris. He was 28 years old.

Mike Brant was buried in Haifa, Israel, and his grave became a pilgrimage site for grieving fans.

25.05.1963 PATRICIA CARLI - DEMAIN TU TE MARIES - FR 1 - 5

11.04.1963 FRANK IFIELD - NOBODY'S DARLIN' BUT MINE - UK 4

Frank Ifield (born Francis Edward Ifield, 30 November 1937, Coundon, Coventry, Warwickshire, England) is an Australian-English easy listening and country music singer. He achieved considerable success in the early 1960s, especially in the UK Singles Chart, where he had four #1 hits between 1962 and 1963.

Frank Ifield moved with his Australian parents to Dural, 50 km (30 miles) from Sydney, about 1946. It was a rural district and he listened to hillbilly music (now called country) while milking the cows. He learned how to yodel in imitation of country stars like Hank Snow. At the age of thirteen he recorded "Did You See My Daddy Over There?", and by the age of 19 was the number one recording star in Australia and New Zealand. He returned to the UK in 1959.

His first record in the UK was "Lucky Devil" (1960) which got to number 22 in the UK charts. His next six records were less successful, but he finally broke through with "I Remember You" which topped the charts for seven weeks in 1962. Known for Ifield's falsetto and a slight yodel, it became the top-selling single of that year and was one of the first million sellers within the UK alone.

His next single was a double A-side: "Lovesick Blues" and "She Taught Me How to Yodel". "Lovesick Blues" was originally sung by Hank Williams and was treated in an upbeat "Let's Twist Again" style. The other song is a virtuoso piece of yodelling with the final verse - entirely yodelling - sung at double-speed. It also reached number 44 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. His next hit, "Wayward Wind", made him the first UK-based person to reach number one three times in the UK in succession. The only other person to have done so at that point was Elvis Presley.

His other recordings include "Nobody's Darling but Mine", "Confessin'" (his fourth and final UK chart topper), "Mule Train" and "Don't Blame Me". In 1963 he sang at the Grand Ole Opry, introduced by one of his heroes, Hank Snow. Many of his records were produced by Norrie Paramor.

17.02.1963 ROY ORBISON - IN DREAMS - US 7 - 10

Roy Kelton Orbison (April 23, 1936 – December 6, 1988), nicknamed "The Big O," was an influential Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter, guitarist and a pioneer of rock and roll whose recording career spanned more than four decades. Orbison is best known for the songs, "Ooby Dooby," "Only the Lonely," "In Dreams," "Oh, Pretty Woman," "Crying," "Running Scared," and "You Got It". He is known for his smooth tenor voice, which could jump an unprecedented three octaves with little trouble. He was also never seen on stage without his trademark black sunglasses. In 1987, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 1989, he was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Roy Orbison's vocal range was impressive (four octaves[citation needed]), his voice effortlessly powerful, and his songs were melodically and rhythmically advanced and lyrically sophisticated, often incorporating the bolero form.

Three songs written and recorded by Orbison, "Only The Lonely", "Oh, Pretty Woman" and "Crying" are in the Grammy Hall of Fame.

In 2004, Rolling Stone named those three songs plus "In Dreams" on its list of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time". The same year, the magazine ranked him #37 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time

18.ukup.singl; 11. Top40; In Dreams (UK6; US7) / B: Shahadaroba; Album: In Dreams, srpanj, 1963.

"In Dreams" is a song composed and sung by American rock and roll performer Roy Orbison. An operatic ballad of lost love, it was released as a single on Monument Records in February 1963. It became the title track on the album In Dreams, released in July 1963. It also appears on his posthumous 1989 album A Black & White Night Live, the soundtrack from the 1988 HBO television special Roy Orbison and Friends, A Black and White Night.

The song's opening line refers to "A candy-colored clown they call the Sandman". The Sandman is a character in Hans Christian Andersen's children stories who brings sleep and dreams by sprinkling magic sand onto the sleeping.

If the structure of a standard pop song is ABABCAB (verse-chorus, verse-chorus, bridge, verse-chorus), then the structure of "In Dreams" is ABCDE; the lyrics "A candy-colored clown," "I close my eyes," "In dreams I walk with you," "But just before the dawn," and "It's too bad that all these things" all introduce sections of new musical material that are never repeated.

In 1988, songwriters Will Jennings and Richard Kerr wrote a response to "In Dreams" called "In The Real World," which Orbison recorded for his album Mystery Girl (which was released posthumously in 1989).

Perhaps the most famous use of "In Dreams" in media was prominently in David Lynch's landmark cult thriller Blue Velvet (1986). The sadistic villain of the film Frank Booth, played by Dennis Hopper, seems to be obsessed with the tune (along with the Bobby Vinton song "Blue Velvet"). In one infamous scene, an effeminate drug dealer named Ben (played by Dean Stockwell) lip syncs the song at Booth's insistence. Later, Booth utters the lines "In dreams I talk to you... in dreams you're mine — all the time!" as a threat to the film's protagonist, Jeffrey Beaumont (Kyle Maclachlan).

The lyrics "In dreams I walk with you / In dreams I talk to you / In dreams you're mine / All the time" are referenced in the Coil track Love's Secret Domain.

The song also appeared in, and provided the title for, Neil Jordan's 1999 psychological thriller In Dreams.

Notable artists who have recorded cover versions of the song include John Otway (1982), Chris de Burgh (1998), Tom Jones (1998), Gabby La La (2005), and Wayne Newton. Dibbs Preston and the Detonators also covered "In Dreams" on their self-titled debut album.

In 2004, Rolling Stone named "In Dreams" as one of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time."

(Only The Lonely", "Oh, Pretty Woman" and "Crying")

M. Ward's "Today's Undertaking" from his 2006 album, Post-War is heavily inspired by "In Dreams."

In Dreams is a Roy Orbison 33 1/3 record album from Monument Records recorded at their studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee and released in 1963.

This was Orbison's fourth album on the Monument label. Named for the hit 45rpm single, in 2004 Rolling Stone named the song "In Dreams" one of the "500 Greatest Songs of All Time."

15.03.1952 GUY MITCHELL - PITTSBURGH PENNSYLVANIA - US 4 - 21 – 317

Guy Mitchell (22.02.1927 – 01.07.1999.) was a Croatian-American pop singer, who as well as his homeland was extremely successful in the United Kingdom and Australia. As an international recording star of the 1950s he achieved record sales in excess of 44 million units and this included six million-selling singles.

12/22 US hit; Pittsburgh Pennsylvania / Day Of Jubilo

"Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania" is a popular song written by Bob Merrill in 1952.

The most well-known version was recorded by Guy Mitchell in February 1952. This recording was released by Columbia Records as catalog number 39663, with the flip side "Doll with a Sawdust Heart"[1]. It first reached the Billboard magazine charts on March 7, 1952 and lasted 17 weeks on the chart, peaking at #6.

The song is a story about how a relatively poor man falls in love with a beautiful woman and convinces her how rich he is by taking her out to fancy places, paying for it all by pawning all he has. As the song opens, he's out of things to pawn.

16.02.1952 ELLA MAE MORSE - THE BLACKSMITH BLUES - US 3 - 22

Ella Mae Morse (September 12, 1924 – October 16, 1999), was an American popular singer.

Morse was born in Mansfield, Texas. She was hired by Jimmy Dorsey when she was 14 years old. Dorsey believed she was 19, and when he was informed by the school board that he was now responsible for her care, he fired her. In 1942, at the age of 17, she joined Freddie Slack's band, with whom in the same year she recorded Cow Cow Boogie, Capitol Records' first gold single. She also originated the wartime hit Milkman, Keep Those Bottles Quiet, which was later popularized by Nancy Walker in the film Broadway Rhythm.

In 1943, she began to record solo. She sang in a wide variety of styles, and she had hits on both the pop and rhythm and blues charts. However, she never received the popularity of a major star. Oscar Brand, je adaptirao staru britansku pjesmu iz 1719. godine izvornog naziva "I Went To the Alehouse (A Knave Is A Knave)", koja je bila omiljena među vojnicima tijekom Drugog svjetskog rata. Tzv.”pročišćenu” verziju je otpjevala Doris Day ’51

"A Guy Is a Guy" is a popular song written by Oscar Brand. It was published in 1952.

The song originated in a British song, "I Went to the Alehouse (A Knave Is a Knave)," dating from 1719. During World War II, soldiers sang a bawdy song based on "A Knave Is a Knave," entitled "A Gob Is a Slob." Oscar Brand cleaned up the lyrics, and wrote this song based on it.

The best-known version of the song, recorded by Doris Day, charted in 1952. The recording was recorded on February 7, 1952 and released by Columbia Records as catalog number 39673. The flip side was "Who Who Who". The song first entered the Billboard Best-Selling Records chart on March 7, 1952 and lasted 19 weeks, peaking at #4 on the chart[2]. (According to some sources[3][4], the song reached #1 on the chart.)

The song was also recorded by Ella Fitzgerald in 1951, and by Australian singer June Miller, with Les Welch and his orchestra, in May, 1952, although Doris Day's version was actually #1 on the Australian charts

08।04.1944 BING CROSBY - I LOVE YOU - US 1 (5) - 18 - 109 - मेक्सिकां हय्रिदे - COLE PORTER

Harry Lillis “Bing” Crosby (May 3, 1903 – October 14, 1977) was an American popular singer and Academy Award-winning actor whose career lasted from 1926 until his death in 1977.

One of the first multimedia stars, from 1934 to 1954 Bing Crosby held a nearly unrivaled command of record sales, radio ratings, and motion picture grosses.[1] He is cited among the most popular musical acts in history and is currently the most electronically recorded human voice in history. Crosby is also credited as being the major inspiration for most of the male singers of the era that followed him, including Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Dean Martin.[citation needed] Yank magazine recognized Crosby as the person who had done the most for American G.I. morale during World War II and, during his peak years, around 1948, polls declared him the "most admired man alive," ahead of Jackie Robinson and Pope Pius XII. Also during 1948, the Music Digest estimated that Crosby recordings filled more than half of the 80,000 weekly hours allocated to recorded radio music.[3] Clarinetist Artie Shaw described Crosby as "the first hip white person born in the United States."

Crosby exerted an important influence on the development of the postwar recording industry. In 1947, he invested US$50,000 in the Ampex company, which developed the world's first commercial reel-to-reel tape recorder, and Crosby became the first performer to pre-record his radio shows and master his commercial recordings on magnetic tape. He gave one of the first Ampex Model 200 recorders to his friend, musician Les Paul, which led directly to Paul's invention of multitrack recording. Along with Frank Sinatra, he was one of the principal backers behind the famous United Western Recorders studio complex in Los Angeles.

In 1962, Crosby was the first person to receive the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

In the United Kingdom, an instrumental version of the song recorded by the Pete Moore Orchestra has been used as a theme tune by BBC Radio 2 presenter David Jacobs for many years

"I Love You, Samantha" is a song written by Cole Porter for the 1956 film High Society, where it was introduced by Bing क्रोस्ब्य
